Basic Information regarding Exam
Applications are invited from male Indian citizens for selection as an Airman in Education Instructor Trade of the Indian Air Force.
Age limit
For B.A/BSc with BEd 21 - 24 years and for MA/MSc 21 - 27 years (as on specified dates).
Minimum Educational Qualification
A candidate should have passed BSc (Mathematics/Physics/Computer Science) with 50% marks and BEd OR MA (English)/MSc (Mathematics/Physics/Computer Science) with minimum II Classs.
Details Regarding Selection Procedure
Interivews Test/ Personality Test
Eligible candidates will be called to appear in a written (objective type) test in English, Current Affairs and General Awareness at one of the specified Centres. Those who qualify this test will be given a subjective test in English comprising an essay and paragraph writing. Question papers of Current Affairs and General Awareness will be in Hindi and English. These can be answered either in Hindi or English. Interview and Medical Examination will be conducted on the following day. The candidates who qualify both tests have to undergo Medical Examination on the following day.
Physical Standards
Minimum Height: 152.5 cms. Chest: Minimum unexpanded chest should be 75 cms with minimum range of expansion of 5 cms. Vision: Visual acuity at least 6/12 in each eye without glasses correctable to 6/6 in one eye and 6/36 in other eye with glasses. Myopia not exceeding 7 Dioptres in any meridian, Colour Vision: Defective unsafe (CP4). Normal Hearing and General Health free from all communicable diseases and medical or surgical deformities and no history of fits or psychiatric ailment. Physically and mentally fit for duty anywhere in the world.
Terms and Conditions
Initial engagement in the IAF is for 20 years extendable to the age of 57 years. Selected candidates will be enrolled as Airman in the rank of Sergeant and will be given salary and other allowances as admissible under existing rules. Other Entitlements/Perks provided to them are: Free Messing, accommodation, clothing and medical facilities, Pension, Gratuity, Provident Fund, Group Insurance, Housing Scheme, Canteen Facilities and Free Travel, etc. Promotional prospects exist up to the rank of Master Warrant Officer by selection. Opportunities available to become a Commissioned Officer.
