Indian Navy Musician Sailor (NMER)

Basic Information regarding Exam
Applications are invited from unmarried male Indian citizens for entry in the Navy as a Musician Sailor for the course commencing in October.

Age limit
17 to 20 years on October I. Age relaxation may be given in case of outstanding candidates.

Minimum Educational Qualification
Candidate should have passed the Standard.

Musical Ability: Should have proficiency, aural aptitude, knowledge of Theory of Music and actual practical skill on any Musical Instrument.

Type of Instrument on which Proficiency Required: String, Key-board, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion Instruments both of Western and Indian origin.

Details Regarding Selection Procedure

Physical Standards
Minimum Height: 157 cms with correlated weight; proportionate chest with minimum 5 cms expansion. Good mental and physic health, free from any disease/disability. No cardiovascular, surgical deformities infection of ears. No history of fits or psychiatric ailment.

How to Apply
Apply against the advertisement in the prescribed format publish in Leading Newspaper/Employment News usually in the month of May/Jun Application along with required documents should be sent to the Commanding Officer (for Director of Music), INS Kunjali, Colaba, Mumbai-400005.

Other Information
Method for Selection or Training: Eligible shortlisted candidates will be called for preliminary screening. Those who qualify will be required to undergo a medical examination. Medically fit candidates will be sent to INS Kunjali, Colaba, Mumbai, for final screening and selection on All India Basis. After final selection candidates will be sent on Railway Warrant to Chilka, Orissa for initial training of 15 weeks. Thereafter the sailors are sent to Mumbai for 26 weeks specialised training.
